Enjoy Cheerful Holiday Songs on this 1928 Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ in Grand Rapids
The Grand Rapids Public Museum (GRPM) will be concluding its 2021 Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ Concert Series with special themed Holiday Classics organ concerts performed by Dave Wickerham on December 17 and 18. This year, for the first time ever, an additional third concert will be available on Saturday evening, December 18.
Deck the halls this season by enjoying cheerful holiday songs on the GRPM’s 1928 Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ performed by Dave Wickerham, a California native who is an internationally recognized organist.
Wickerham moved to Arizona in 1976, where he became Associate Organist at the famous Organ Stop Pizza Restaurants in Phoenix, Mesa and Tucson. He continued his musical studies with Roseamond Crowley, one of the few remaining descendants of the Louis Vierne line of organists and then attended the University of Arizona to pursue classical organ studies for six years with Dr. Roy Johnson. Additionally, he served as a Staff Organist at Pipes and Pizza in Lansing, Illinois and was a featured Staff Organist for 10 years at the Piper Music Palace in Greenfield. He enjoys concertizing to various audiences statewide and overseas, and took great joy in his staple performance in Melbourne, Australia as a featured artist for the Theatre Organ Society of Australia, where he received raving reviews.
The Museum is happy to be welcoming back guests for in person organ concerts this year, as well as offer an option to purchase a recording of the Friday evening show. December organ concerts will be held Friday, December 17 at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 18 at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. in the GRPM’s Meijer Theater. Early ticket purchases are recommended as the holiday concerts are expected to sell out. For more information visit grpm.org/Organ.
