New Monthly Book Club Focuses on Books by Black Authors

The Grand Rapids Public Library is starting a new monthly book club that focuses on books written by Black authors.

Each month, participants will read the selected book and participate in a discussion led by a GRPL librarian. The book club will be held outdoors at the Library on the Lawn at the Seymour Branch - 2350 Eastern SE.

The schedule is as follows:

May 24 |The Care and Feeding of Ravenously Hungry Girls by Anissa Gray

June 28 | The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey by Walter Mosley

July 26 | The City We Became by N.K. Jemisin

August 23 | Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi

The Black Lit Book Club will take place monthly at the Seymour Branch from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. The books are available in multiple formats and can be borrowed from the library. It is free to participate in the drop-in discussions. The Grand Rapids Public Library inspires opportunity, connection, and innovation.
