Ludington Area Center for the Arts Raises Funds for Ukranian Relief Fund

The Ludington Area Center for the Arts’ (LACA) pop-up Sunflower Exhibit benefiting the Ukrainian Relief Fund was a huge success according to LACA Executive Director Andrew Skinner. Over 20 local artists donated artwork for the exhibit with 100% of the sales benefiting the relief fund.

“I was blown away by the number of pieces of original artwork donated to the exhibit and the support of our community who turned out in droves to support the people of Ukraine,” Skinner said.

The exhibit raised $1,391 from in-person sales and donations as well as call-in purchases.

“We still have a dozen or so items remaining and have decided to continue the exhibit, originally planned as a 1-day only fundraiser, through March 26 in the art center’s lower-level Unframed Gallery,” Skinner added.

Artists contributing artwork to the exhibit included, Nancy Armitage, Deb Boerma and the Workshop Wednesday kids, Kathy Barrett, Laura E. Carter, Ginger Garner, Lynne Haslam, Nanette Kibbey-Scribner, Anne Kivela, Tami Ledger, Joan Lundborg, Eric Michaels, Ellen Niemann, Rabbit, Marion Riedl, Joan Riise, Linda Sandow, Tracy Scheid, Christine Trojanowski, Christine Lynne Virgo, Chris VanWyck, Karrie Wolf and Cheryl Wolfram.

The Sunflower Exhibit was the idea of LACA artist Linda Sandow; she and members of the LACA Visual Arts Critique Group organized the exhibit as well as handled the majority of exhibit sales.

LACA is located at 107 S. Harrison St. in downtown Ludington. The art center is open Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 pm.; Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information about LACA visit www.ludingtonartscenter.org or find them on Facebook (@LudingtonArtsCenter).
