Independent Michigan-based contemplative folk and daydreamy, smoky pop artist Rachel Curtis is celebrating the release of her new single, “Strobe Lights” out on all music platforms. Following her debut EP release, Senses, in May 2018, Rachel Curtis released an impressive five singles the following year, including “Dandelions,” “Intertwine,” “Penny Pincher,” “Adam & Eve, “ and “Blue.” She was a Top 3 Finalist for WYCE (Grand Rapids, MI) “Best Contemporary Folk Album of the Year” for 2020.

“STROBE LIGHTS,” was co-written and produced by band bassist Tyler Tesla, mixed by Curt Micol, and mastered by Grammy-winning Mastering Engineer Steve Fallone (Kacey Musgraves, The National, Norah Jones, John Mayer, Hozier, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Bob Dylan, Tony Bennett).

“Tyler came to me with an intriguing main guitar riff and listening to it made me think of a long, relaxing car trip -- looking out and seeing the afternoon sun shine through the trees lining the road, resembling a strobe light as you move past,” Curtis said. “Writing the song provoked a pleasant memory, filling me with a calm, peaceful feeling from past adventures.”

Rachel Curtis utilizes a unique blend of seasoned poetic vocals, heartfelt melodies, and creative, catchy songwriting in the alternative folk & pop realms. Her live band consists of herself (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Jason Marr (electric guitar), Tyler Tesla (bass), and Danny Lindstrom (drums).

Her mature vocal stylings grabbed the attention of American Idol judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan in 2018, landing her a ticket to Hollywood. Curtis has played festival stages, supporting artists at Common Ground Music Festival in 2019, playing alongside her musical inspirations, Brandi Carlile, and City and Colour. She played the 2019 CMA Fest (Nashville, TN) on the Spotlight Stage at the Music City Center. Curtis also opened up for Gladys Knight, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Cole Swindell, Chris Janson, and Tracey Lawrence.
