Calling All Plein Air Painters

Charlevoix Circle of Arts seeks artists for the annual plein air Paint Out event, scheduled for July 14-15, 2022. The event is open to artists of all levels, from novice to professional. Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place paintings. The registration deadline is July 6, and artists can register online at www.charlevoixcircle.org/paint-out, or call (231) 547-3554.

During this two-day event, plein air artists paint the beaches, parks, vistas & local attractions that Charlevoix offers. The French phrase “en plein air” means  “in the open air” and is used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Participants can paint anywhere in Charlevoix and have special access to a selection of properties including Castle Farms, Dhaseleer Farm, Hungry Ducks Farm, and Spare Key Winery.

The event culminates with a Wet Paint Sale and Reception on Friday, July 15, from 5-7pm on the front lawn of the Charlevoix Circle of Arts. Artwork created in Charlevoix during the 2-day Paint Out is on display and available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public and includes an awards presentation, refreshments, and a relaxed atmosphere to meet and mingle with artists and art loversalike.
