For over a decade, the National Writers Series of Traverse City, Michigan, has hosted amazing, insightful, and entertaining conversations with world-famous authors including Margaret Atwood, Jodi Picoult, Tom Brokaw, Alice Walker, and Gillian Flynn.

Now, NWS is bringing those discussions to your favorite podcast platform every week.

Hosted by NWS co-founder and New York Times #1 bestselling author Doug Stanton, the podcast features a wide variety of guest authors and guest hosts, most of whom appeared live at the City Opera House in downtown Traverse City.

The new podcast is produced in partnership with Interlochen Public Radio and is available for immediate download on a variety of platforms including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and PocketCasts.

"The past year of virtual events has been wonderful, but we were really missing the sound of a live audience reacting to the amazing authors the National Writers Series brings to Traverse City," executive director Jillian Manning says.

"Listening back to these live conversations is a great reminder of how much fun our events can be, and we can't wait to welcome guests to the City Opera House again once it's safe to do so. Until then, we're loving the ability to revisit some great talks with great authors in a format that's free and convenient for almost everyone."

Episodes will be released every week and will delve back through the NWS archives throughout the years. Our initial episodes include our live conversations between Doug Stanton and Margaret Atwood; columnist Neil Rubin and author Jodi Picoult; and author (and native Michigander) Loren Estleman and author Joe Hill. We've also revisited our Zoom conversation with author and Traverse City native Chasten Buttigieg.

"If you love books and love the people who write them, you'll find something to love in these podcast episodes," Manning says. "The beauty of the National Writers Series is that it’s truly national, and you don’t need to be in northern Michigan to experience these incredible conversations.”
