The Show Must Go On: Michigan’s Variety Show is Back!

Michigan’s Premiere Variety Show is back! On Friday, April 16th, 2021 at 7pm, The Artist’s Umbrella will present “The Spring Awakening” live from Old Town in Lansing, MI. This performance will take place outside, in the large lot behind UrbanBeat, and social distancing guidelines will be enforced. Doors open at 6:00pm, and tickets for the event are $20.00. The Spring Awakening will be the Artist’s Umbrellas first live show in 2021, “This upcoming Artist’s Umbrella show means a lot to all of us under the umbrella,” said Jacklyn Taylor. Jacklyn is a volunteer with the Artist’s Umbrella & serves on the organizations’ Street Team, which is active in the Artist’s Umbrella’s community building initiatives. Taylor continues, “I’m overwhelmed by the opportunity to support my artistic community, and it is going to be so nice to get back on stage!”

This show will feature a live Arts Market with Visual Art Vendors including Autumn Hopkins with Aura Lee Gallery, Artist Sam Roe, and Stone Jeweler Danielle Smith with Lithic Creation. Bob Rose will present a side act throughout the show, and Author Kristine Brickey will also have her novels available for purchase. The show will also feature some of the Lansing Region’s top Performing Arts talent including Poi Spinner Terjae, Hoop Dancer Dani Twigs, Guitarists Wil Pruitt & Josh Pena, Poet Grace Carras, Hip Hop Artists Knova & Big Caso, a testimonial by Vee & Kristine, a Mystery Skit by the AU Street Team and the popular interview segment “Cantakerous Talk with Uncle Carl”. The Spring Awakening is sponsored by Preuss Pets, who will also be presenting an educational talk featuring some of their animals & educators.
