For the second consecutive year, Mila Lynn & Torrey Gray have made 31 new works of art & music in 31 days as part of their Inktober 2021 project, and similarly to last year, they are having a closeout show. Ink21 Closeout will celebrate the end of Inktober 2021 and remind Lansing of its emerging Arts Industry. “Last year’s event was virtual with limited capacity,” said Lynn. “This year we have a bigger venue that will be able to host performances, a display of art, and allow more people to attend & mingle.” In order to showcase more talent than last year, there will be a mini Art Market by LanArtBus, as well as a crowd-led cypher to kick off the show. Performers will include Torrey himself, Keyante Saxon, & Corzo Effect. Mila & Torrey will also be signing copies of their Ink20 Collection Coffee Table Book (also available through www.barnesandnoble.com).

Mila also created a special #32 prompt which will be revealed at the show. That piece, as well as 5 other pieces created by local visual artists including Christina Castilla & Autumn Hopkins, will be on display. The event will also include an art auction. The remaining Inktober 2021 pieces that have yet to be purchased will also be available at the auction. Next Up News will be in the building as the official media coverage, mixing with the crowd and artists to capture this night to remember.

About Inktober:
Inktober is a month-long art challenge created by Artist Jake Parker in 2009 that is focused on improving skill and developing positive drawing habits. Every day for the month of October anyone participating in the Inktober challenge creates an ink drawing and posts it online. Inktober has grown into a worldwide challenge with artists from around the world participating every year. Starting in 2016, Jake Parker created the Official Inktober Prompt List with a different word assigned to each day of the month. Some of the prompt words for 2021 included Vessel, Sour, Fuzzy, & Slither. Be sure to use & follow the hashtags #inktober and #inktober2021 on Instagram to stay up to date on all of the campaigns.
