The Pendulum Lounge Offers Outdoor Patio for Live Music All Summer Long
The flowers are blooming and the sun is shining, and with summer comes the smell of delicious food and outdoor music. Midland Center for the Arts has opened up a patio space outside the popular Pendulum Lounge, offering live music from local musicians in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
“Our patrons have been enjoying an elevated selection of familiar favorites, and been clamoring to sit outside to enjoy the fresh Michigan summer air,” said Josh Holliday, Midland Center Communications & Public Relations Manager. “Last summer our team worked to design an outdoor space to continue to gather with our friends and neighbors, which inspired us to continue that this year.” The outdoor patio now features an assortment of colorful flower boxes maintained by community volunteers, and tables to accommodate varying party sizes underneath the historic iron rings on the building’s façade.
The Pendulum Lounge and outdoor patio feature a mid-century modern theme, inspired by the influence of the philosopher and architect behind the building, Alden B. Dow. Guests can continue to eat inside on the mid-mod furniture, or sit on the patio with small plates and hearty offerings, featuring American classics like a twist on your mamma’s meatloaf, deconstructed deviled eggs, a trio of pot pies, duck fat fries, and much more.
The lineup of musicians for the month of July was just announced, with local and fan favorites including The Operators paying tribute to songwriters like Carole King; upbeat two-part harmonies from the 60’s to now with Acoustic Cocktail; smooth jazz with Midland Symphony Orchestra veteran DJAM featuring Roland Wallace; country roots with the Jack Pack Band and classical hits with Easystreet & Company.
The lounge gives guests an opportunity to sample something delicious while enjoying live music inside or on the patio every Thursday evening from 4:30 – 8 p.m. To learn more about the lounge and other upcoming events, visit midlandcenter.org/PendulumLounge. The Pendulum Lounge is made possible through the support of Tri-Star Trust.
